Did you know?

Swimming with your best friend can be a fun experience for you both.

There is also great benefits:

  • According to pitpat.com a 5 min swim is equivalent of a 5 mile walk.
  • By having a swim can improve your dog’s cardiovascular and respiratory fitness, swimming strengthens the heart and lungs.
  • When your dog swims in water it is enabling your dog to use all their major muscle groups - improving muscle tone and strength.
  • Due to the buoyancy the weight is distributed evenly across the water, with the water supporting it means it is non weigh bearing and low impact exercise. This means its less stressful on joints and may even reduce pain caused by arthritis and dysplasia.  Perfect for older dogs too 😊
  • Swimming delivers a full range of movements that’s different to going for a long walk on land.
  • We are all guilty of spoiling our dogs ( I know we are!) if they need to loose a few extra pounds or they haven’t been mobile recently then swimming is a great way to lose excess weight and strengthen muscle.  Because of the increased resistance in the water means that more calories are burnt in turn increasing their metabolic rate in a shorter period of time compared to a walk….and you get to have fun in the water with them too in them too!
  • Its great to see your dog happy and having fun for their mental health and wellbeing.  By giving your dog a varied swimming experience is outside your normal walking routine. This can stimulate the brain improving cognitive performance and sharpness ,with this improvement continuing even after exercise has ended.
  • We have lots of toys and aids, we love it when your dog jumps in. For the competitive dogs out there they can even have a go at ‘Poppy’s jump’ where you can see how far they can jump into the pool. (there is a measure chart at the side of the pool)  There will be a prize for the winner that month and your picture will go on Poppys wall of fame that month and on our social media page (if consented).

You will have full exclusive use of the pool for your booked slot, perfect for nervous or reactive dogs. Off lease swimming so they can swim around freely giving them freedom.

So overall its giving them great physical and mental health benefits (and you too)…the last one is it’s great for sleep aid.  Swimming and fun at Poppys pool means a good nights sleep for your best friend and you!

But we advise that you always speak to your vet regarding diet and exercise for your dog.
